Fatty Liver Hemorrhagic Syndrome (FLHS) is a non-infectious disease that appears mainly in laying hens. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It is a disease characterized by an excess accumulation of fat in the abdominal cavity and liver, which leads to liver rupture, hemorrhage and sudden death.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

What is fatty liver hemorrhagic syndrome or FLHS? <\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<\/div><\/div>

FLHS or fatty liver hemorrhagic syndrome is characterized by a drop in egg production<\/strong> (hens in affected flocks are generally obese and experience a sudden drop in egg production) and sudden death (mortality is usually 3-5%, but higher mortality rates have been reported).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Affected hens usually have pale chins, ridges and skin<\/strong> and a large amount of fat in the liver<\/strong> found during necropsy<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
